The Luxury of Being Eccentric or Centric

The Luxury of  Being Eccentric or Centric

1. They don’t care what you think

You have to write with the intention of pleasing your readers in one way or another. And then they will read it, and eventually, they will be happy. That is how much writing I love. But…it’s not like the writers I come across do actually care about their writing (or the reader). Sure, a few of them can write a good article, but most of them don’t care about it very much, only to get some views on their blog post, and then they just sit down and write a new story from scratch.

I have seen many bloggers who go from 0 to 100k followers in a day without even posting anything and wait until people read their articles so that they can take advice from other bloggers. And people don’t mind reading those pieces because they do find something that they like. So why should we try?

Well, if you are going to write an article about someone else, that is going to be really hard for anyone to write and most people will end up judging you for it regardless. It is such a shame because everyone knows there is nobody reading your thoughts, it doesn’t matter who, if a person thinks something totally different, you will be a loser. Let me tell you this- if after a certain number of months of being a blogger, you get really tired of people making comments on everything you write, you have no chance to attract any readers. And that would sting. Not at all. People aren’t taking advice from idiots.

But you know what? Nobody cares about your opinion. What matters is how you write and present your stuff. If people like it, they will read. If they don’t like it, well, they won’t. The best thing to do when people are dissatisfied or have to change their opinions would be to just go out and write something new. There is no need to be worried about what others say. No point trying to impress anybody with your latest article. Just keep yourself busy so that your next one can pick up the thread when things calm down again. In short, never worry about what people think. Focus only on writing good stuff that you want to write.

2. They don’t care about what people think of them

People are always doing what they want to do, and they don’t care what other people think about it. This is true for all the bloggers I know. Of course, there are some bloggers who, when they start working, spend most of their time writing stories about what they did once people had enough of their stuff. They probably get a lot of likes. The same happens for the ones who give tips. The more popular a writer gets, the better he gets to help him. So if you want to become popular so badly, then the sooner you accept people as clients, the quicker you reach success. Yes, people love money. We live in the 21st century. Everybody has a job. How much does he/she got paid?

And here comes the second important issue. Most bloggers think they can make thousands of dollars every single month. The problem is that nobody understands the concept of monetization properly. Nowadays, everybody goes bankrupt pretty fast even if they get very big income. All the blogs we see are about business ideas and things that make some kind of profit. But when everyone starts thinking that a blogger can make money by helping another blogger achieve something that makes them happy, people start doubting that it is real, that one can earn money without having any experience at all. And there was nothing wrong with knowing what a blogger does: I made a living writing online. Why am I ashamed of that? Nobody said it was easy. I started doing it 5 years ago and now I have a large audience of social media users.

But now, people stop paying attention to the idea of becoming successful, instead they start focusing on the idea of being popular and of getting good content. And you know what? Popularity is much easier than actual skill. A lot of bloggers get rejected. They don’t have any work. Their stories are garbage. One year later, they still haven’t created anything useful. When I started to write a blog, I thought I’d finally figure it out. Then, I realized that my first work was crap. My second project turned into this giant mess. Who knows how many times I tried to create content with the whole idea in my head?

The truth is, nobody told us to go to school, not even to learn something hard. Our parents didn’t teach us to do it. Maybe they didn’t have patience, or maybe they were just lazy. I can understand why so many people think that getting good grades is enough and that studying hard makes you successful. At least it gives you opportunities. Because you are a human that has a brain and has desires to succeed. And you have a job, you can have a family. But it isn’t true. Anyone can study something hard and make progress with a little effort. Just don’t expect to become rich overnight.

I’m sorry, but I have experienced the same things people have and the results are not pleasant. At least they were not for me. I had an uneducated job. I tried to study something hard and became a mediocre writer. At some point, I stopped caring about writing and concentrated on marketing. At some point, it became a habit and every day I’d come back to work and I was spending hours and hours on writing. Everything went downhill. Instead of wasting time on things that could bring me money, I spent time on writing junk like a child. Sometimes I used all the money that I made in 2010 and bought a house. I got married at 25! On top of that, I took 2 kids out of school and went to stay with my mother so that I could continue to write. It is my third day out of college and I already feel guilty because my life still hasn’t turned around yet.

I want to tell you two things… First, I should have done everything that I wanted to do before starting any kind of blog. I didn’t realize that. I just wanted to write for myself, not for anyone else. Second, I’m sorry, but the word ‘failure’ sounds horrible when it is associated with me. Failure is a failure. Nothing is impossible. Everyone has failed somewhere. And it’s normal. The majority of bloggers fail even though they have some amazing skills and knowledge. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself. Believe me, when you start going out on the internet every day there is a possibility that one day you will come across as a complete monster.

3. They don’t show how they are feeling

I don’t know how this works. This is not intentional. I have met some bloggers who tell their readers how happy they are when they finish a piece or start creating something new. However, I also saw bloggers who make comments that they regret that they wrote. Some of these people think they have made mistakes, and they apologize for being a fool. For some reason, they don’t want to hurt somebody’s feelings. Besides, they believe in karma and what they say about what other bloggers say about them.

But that’s not what they should be showing to their readers. They need to show them how they feel. Be honest. Tell us who you are. Show us how you feel. Try to show us what you’re struggling with. Use words like ‘I have a secret, and here is why…’. Talk to us through our problems. The more you talk about your struggle, the stronger it feels to you. Make us laugh, help us to cope. Because once they see people who are genuinely upset and suffer, they realize that they need more support from others. When we suffer from depression, it becomes a permanent state. We cannot move forward. We just see the place of suffering as an obstacle that we have to overcome to face the reality of life.

4. They don’t show their friends or people they share their content with

People are not looking to become famous or get good grades. They don’t care about themselves so much. They care about the things that others can do and do them well. When I started to write, I thought that once my content got good reviews from people, maybe people would start telling their friends about it. That I could sell the article as well. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. There is nothing wrong with liking your work. We just need to talk and trust each other and share our experiences with one another. The rest about me and my writing isn’t going on.

But hey, the point is that they don’t care how many people care about their work. This may sound a bit sad, but when you look at the number of people, it seems quite clear that people want to help you get good grades. Even if they don’t see you succeed, they will do whatever it takes to give back some of their valuable feedback. So sometimes it’s unfair and not fair when the ones who have been more successful share their work with others, rather than sharing their things. It’s sad because they don’t like to share. They want to control others and they use others to control them. But remember that no one knows anything about you. Unless you tell about yourself and your struggles. We need to respect each other and help one another.
