Political Correctness in a Polarized World: A Delicate Balance.
We live in a
polarized world, where we have our opinions and point of views that are
different from others. However, we do not express our opinions out loud to
avoid any kind of conflict, by doing this we become people’s favourite. This is
called being politically correct or diplomat. The term ‘politically correct ‘refers
to the practice of avoiding challenging people. Why people choose to remain
neutral or less interested in sharing their opinion may have various
limitations including cultural, economic and being insensitive towards others.
| politically correct having no opinion |
By being politically correct no one can achieve much, this is not only limited to the individuals. but the nations as well. If we go through history, we see nations like the Greeks, Romans, and even Muslims enjoyed a glorious past. When they were actively involved in world politics, they dared to call a spade and spade. Now, they are more serving their political interest, having zero interest, and zero empathy and trying to trade tyrants of the world for human values.
Humanity has only one language, life even
the dead to be respected and valued. We should raise our voices against injustice,
and should not hide behind language barriers, this is not about the constantly
evolving language but to show your concerns that injustice is not acceptable in
any form. A politically correct person when has no opinion would be gradually
ousted from the league of people who challenge the society. Words and phrases by
then won’t cushion ‘the Doctrine of necessity’ for many. In this digital world
where information spreads rapidly, one cannot afford to remain politically
correct. If we want to bring a positive change in the worlds politics then we
need to adopt the daunting strategy. The challenge lies not only in learning
new terms but also in understanding the nuanced ways they should be used to forward
your point explicitly without any fear and favour.
For instance, diverse cultural norms across different regions and societies have different values. What is considered respectful in one culture may be viewed as offensive in another. One has to study the respective culture and understand the overall Navigating these cultural differences requires a high degree of cultural competence and empathy. This becomes even more challenging in a globalized world where interactions between people from diverse backgrounds are frequent and varied.
For example, humour is often a minefield. Jokes that are acceptable in one cultural context can be deeply offensive in another. The global nature of social media amplifies this issue, as a comment made in one part of the world can quickly be shared and scrutinised worldwide, often without the context that might mitigate its impact.
The rise of social movements advocating for the rights of marginalized groups has brought much-needed attention to issues of inequality and injustice. However, it has also heightened sensitivities around the globe. In a polarized world, these sensitivities can lead to quick and often harsh judgments about individuals where the ethnic cleansing of one community is justified and the entire world is doing everything to justify this naked crime against one group. Till this hour the entire world is watching the genocide of Palestinian Muslims at the hands of the Zionist regime. The entire world is acting politically correct and practically they are doing nothing to stop the oppressors.
In a
polarized world, being politically correct is undeniably difficult, if not
impossible. However, this is not a wise option when you see things are taking
the wrong turn and you do nothing but remain in a bubble of political
correctness.
Remember,
clemency on the tyrant is sheer injustice to the weak.
